The decision of the court endangers the casino project in Tyre – New York

The operator of the Lago Resort & Casino, the future casino of the small city of Tyre in Seneca County, did not hide its frustration on local criticism of the construction of the casino. Opponents of the implementation of gambling in the Finger Lakes fear that the future casino in Seneca County may have an impact on the millions of dollars in revenue from casinos located in western New York and the loss of about 1,100 jobs. The Tyre casino project is currently at risk with the decision of the 4th Department of the State Court Appellate Division which declared last Friday that members of council of Tyre city did not follow the procedures under the law in force in the State when it said that the project will have no negative environmental impact on the city.

Thomas C. Wilmot, a promoter from Rochester in charge of the casino project, did not hide his frustration on Monday about the decision of the court, but he believes that the decision would only be a legal detour that will lead to a “temporary” delay in the implementation of the project. But until a new approval of Lago Resort & Casino plan by the municipal council of Tyre, construction will be suspended according to the developer.
