Online casinos were victims of cyber attack – New Jersey

Online games in the State of New Jersey, USA, were barely legalized that casinos holding a license have already experienced problems. Indeed, they were victims of a cyber attack. The first cases were reported late last week and alert continues to intensify. The news comes from four legal gambling sites. The Director of the State Division of Gaming Enforcement, David Rebuck, then made an official announcement regarding the subject. He explained that criminals have wagered on a DDOS attack (Distributed Denial of Service) making these sites inaccessible for about 30 minutes. It particularly consists of flooding gaming platforms with a lot of data.

According to this senior official, an even more powerful threat of attack was launched by the criminals and they require the payment of a ransom. Otherwise, they put their execution plan into practice within 24 hours. David Rebuck has not provided the names of casino affected by this attack. Anyway, he said that a criminal investigation is underway and it is directed by Bill Hughes Jr, the leader of the section of cyber security of Cooper Levenson firm in Atlantic City. The latter argued that regulators responsible for resolving this kind of affair acted appropriately and professionally.
