Jeffrey Hyman withdraws its casino construction demand – New York

While the businessman Jeffrey Hyman obtained the support of the municipality of Binghamton, in Albany, New York, USA, he finally decided to abandon his plan to build a casino in the city. Following his withdrawal, there is only one candidate for the fourth and final casino license. This is Heff Gural, owner of Tioga Downs. The latter filed his license last Thursday. He hopes to make a real Tioga Downs leisure complex with a casino with slot machines and table games as well as a hotel.

The realization of such a project could create more than 400 jobs in the region. The Gaming Commission, however, indicated that the granting of a new license is not yet guaranteed. According to sources, the publication of the new environmental zone map made by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation last week has greatly influenced the decision of Hyman. It turns out that investors have given up funding the project after knowing that the construction site is not included in the new maps. All the benefits of operators disappear so. The head of Broome County, Debbie Preston, practically said on Sunday that the State has simply abandoned the area with that decision. She also indicated that an explanation is needed.
