Barrière is on the lookout for a new perspective – France

France’s leading hotel and casino group “Barrière” is reportedly considering disposing of a dozen of its own premises. Officials from the group released the news early this week. Although few details are available regarding the terms of that disposal initiative, it is quite clear that the leading casino & hotel developer in France gears itself up for a re-shaping session. It has come as a big suprise since the news actually shows a totally different fact than was projected by the group itself last year. Indeed, an investment value of about € 210 million was allocated to re-design some of Barrière-operated facilities in 2014.

Listed among the premises that Barrière group would put for sale are nine casinos and two hotels. The most valuable among them include casinos in Carnac, Besançon, Sables d’Olonne, Dax and Chamonix. The two hotels, Mercure Niederbronn and Pullman Bordeaux Lac, have already received some buy-back proposals. When asked about the reasons why the group proceeded to sell its facilities, interviewed officials only voiced some non-committal responses. Any way, certainty is that the disposal comes as Barrière is vying for a status to become France’s leading luxury-feel gaming developer. To make it happen, the group would need a much bigger capital, thus, selling part of its own establishments.
