Barrière Group plans to sell its nine small-size casinos – France

Barrière group currently considers selling its nine small-size casinos along with two hotels. The sale consideration would come as the group is in the lookout to developing Resort-related services. Hence, for the Barrière-owned casinos in Brittany’s Perros-Guirec and Carnac, employees have already been informed about the news. The group has received a number of buyout offers for its gaming facilities in Besançon, Briancon, Carnac, Chamonix, Dax, Jonzac, Leucate, Perros-Guirec, Les Sables d’Olonne, as well as bids for its two hotels, namely those in Pullman Bordeaux Lac and Mercure Niederbronn. At the group’s committee meeting held in Lille, the management board announced their interest to become the leading France-styled luxury hotel service providers. To this end, the group bets on building a new strategy on multi-offer “Resort”, a concept that sees hotel, casino, spa and golf-related services on offer in one and unique facility.

Of course, Trestraou Casino in Perros-Guirec is included in the sale despite its being as a successful gaming space, especially with its 99 slot machines, a bar and a restaurant. As a reminder, this Perros-Guirec casino renewed its contract with the municipality in July 2012 and has recently received new investments. The Barrière Group Committee is expected to meet with Perros-Guirec casino’s employees this week. As for the casino in Carnac, some bidders have already showed their interest in buying the facility. Carnac Mayor “Olivier Lepick”, for his part, remains optimistic about the continuity of the casino’s services while arguing that it has generated relatively profitable figures over the years. Plus, the casino’s public service delegation remains operational until 2020, he added.
